U use these values for raytrans there on IOR(Index of Refraction),the next thing I must find are the alpha values and the fresnel values

The surface of a solid like gold has a refraction quality. Which is part of why reflections on gold are tinted, well gold. I can’t find much on line about this. However, in the Indigo render engine you can use complex IOR from NK data files. Gold is one of these complex IOR surfaces. You can learn a little about it here:

No, Blender cannot use NK materials. Indigo is a free unbiased ray-tracer that is very much physical accurate. You should check it out. Visit www.indigorenderer.com

There is a Python script named Blendigo that lets you export from Blender to Indigo. Note: Unbiased engines take a long time to render. Basically you are using time instead of lighting tricks to get the render you want.

The answer is simple. On the SURFACES the light is REFLECTED and REFRACTED. And it is absorbed by VOLUME (and also SCATTERED). Surface has no volume so it cannot absorb the light. In case of any homogenous metal plate with enough thickness (a lot of atomic layers) the light ray is partialy reflected and refracted by it’s surface (intencity of reflected and refracted light rays is determined by IOR), but then refracted ray can also be absorbed by volume. Metal plate has big index of absorbtion. So that’s why we can’t see through it if it is thick enough. VERY THIN METAL PLATE – for example plate with only 10 atomic layers – WILL BE TRANSPARENT.

P.S.: Index of absorbtion also depends on light wavelength (not only the material). Everyone heard about penetrating power of gamma rays.
