So, what’s your plan for the game, exactly? Do you have a concept in mind, some designs or plans? What is going to happen in different levels? What needs to be programmed, what needs to be made? Story?
Just curious…
Would love to help if you could give me a better idea of what you’re doing.
yea thanks i was just thingking along te line of makeing the simpletst of games like have the cube move and accept a quest and finnish it by doing a simple task
maybe getting to know how it works and wat u need to work it…
yes i cant make a realy good game because i dont know how XD so i need to learn the basics and so do other starters im not a complete noob but a noob enough to not be able to make a game with objectives and gains…
Well, hey killa, I’ll join up with you. You seem “not noob” enough. Why don’t we try to just make a very very simple game from scratch, huh? It could be fun.
Awsome i have a box thing made up but i dont know how to get the walls to not disapair its in the attachments
maybe a simple rpg like kill spares and gain a currency and buy better things and complete quests…
then after we have the whole test on the down low we could start makeing a better game with people in it i have many ideas for games but one at a time
I would like to be in this i am free right now so maybe i can have some fun with this.
U can contat me with PM or on my mail [email protected] or we can just talk on the forum
i will be glad if i can join the team for the simple game designing !!!
Hey, I am thinking of helping out. Im not sure if i’m considered new or not, but i can offer…
Modeling
Basic Texturing
Basic rigging and animation
Level design
Great @ logic bricks
What type of game are we thinking? I was thinking, if we did something like this.
-A 3rd person platformer game, basically one level would consist of this.
1)Floating terrain, basically platforms but they have grass on them and trees, etc.
2) Coins, you would have to collect all the coins before you can finish the level
Once you have all the coins, then you can make your way to the finish.
Let me know what you think, if you don’ like it just let me know.
-Coonerboy
Well, killa, I kind of like coonerboy’s idea for a platformer. It would be simpler than an rpg but would still be fun. Who knows whether we’ll make an rpg later
Coonerboy, that sounds pretty good. Let’s get a few more details down.
Let’s make it a sidescroller so we only have to think about motion in 2 dimensions.
I think we should decide on a set number of levels, so we have a simple, easy goal to get to. Why don’t we say 10 levels?
Will there be enemies or traps? I kind of think we should just have spikes and moving platforms for now. Maybe lava or something on the later levels. Enemies add another level of complexity and we want to stay really simple.
So, what will the character’s abilities be? He needs to jump because it’s a platformer. I don’t think power-ups are really necessary if we want to make something simple.
Any other ideas for anything? I’ll start making some concept art, then we can start making the character and doing stage design, etc…
So we’ve got killa, kain12, coonerboy, and I. As far as individual jobs, why don’t we split it up like this:
Programming by one person
Stage modelling
Stage design (putting levels together)
Textures
Animation
Why don’t we all try to pick one of those, or if you can think of something else we really need, mention it and volunteer?
Coonerboy i like the idea maybe some enemies and things like that make it better.
soo i will pick up the programmer .
Well hackedmind i was wondering why didnt u pick first !?
so first we need the plan of the game
This is what i was thinking.
No enemies for now, keep it simple.
Make it more of a puzzle/dodging game.
I like the idea of it being a from the side as well as spikes, we can also make floors that after 2 seconds of being on them, they disappear.
Lets start by getting a basic character done, and then a basic level. From there we can add different aspects such as spikes etc.
I can do level design and/or character design.
Oh, what style will this be? Realistic, cartoonish. Personally i like cartoonish textures for sidescrollers. What do you guys think. GLSL or not? personaly i think glsl looks the best, can your computers handle it.
kain12: I would like any of these, but wanted you guys to choose first
Okay coonerboy why don’t you do the main character, so modeling, rigging/animating, and texturing him? I’m not sure it matters much to have an overarching style, so long as we have a nice game put together make the character however you want and the modelers can try to match that style.
And I’ll do level design and lighting, as well as modeling. Killa can team up with me on the modeling part if he wants. Okay let’s throw some concept art together while kain starts some basic programming! Kain, why don’t you program some simple models while we work on the art, that way we can just plug the art into the engine you build when we’re done? At least you can practice collision, collecting coins and winning, as well as death by spikes
Guys, I got an idea for a character skill. Instead of just jumping, the character can jump in midair (double-jump). This would make some puzzles a little more interesting without making it a lot harder to program.
