My latest project featured an open world landscape. I wanted to work on something where I’m have to manually create most of the assets, as well as nailing the huge scale of my scene.
A new video will be up on YouTube shortly. I’ll be talking about how I tackled this project. The modeling, the sculpting, the texturing, and everything else in between will be presented in the video.
So if you’re interested in becoming an environment artist and breaking into the industry, make sure to check out those videos!
I’ll also be providing the scene file for free, so everyone can make use of it!
I don’t really know that reference, sorry
I don’t watch movies or play games, so I’m not familiar with this kind of stuff. But to answer, I pretty much based the environment on an old concept art I found on Pinterest.
Oh okay, the Misty Mountains is actually a geographical location in Tolkien’s Middle Earth, and even unknowingly you gave a pretty good impression for me
Like @AgentTuron my mind went immediately to Tolkien; it’s very evocative, so even though you are not familiar I am guessing the concept artist was. Great scene!
I’m looking forward to your breakdown video – while I admire much art posted here, I really appreciate if when the artist talks about their process, because that interests me just as much (if not more), and I can learn from it.
Had a Google search afterwards, saw it’s from the LOTR movies. People always tell me I’m a criminal when I tell them I haven’t seen the movies.
And afterwards they kill me when I continue by saying I have never seen Star Wars or any of those extremely popular movies
Yeah, the concept artist was probably inspired by a bunch of factors I’m not at all familiar with. Really enjoyed the concept when I ran into it. At this point I have to carefully choose the projects I’ll be working on because I need to fit the project into a single week and also produce a video for that project still in one week time.
How are your hands doing?
Haha, my hands are healing just fine. I stopped wearing my cast about a week ago, which is really good cause I doubt I could’ve finished this project this fast while wearing it.
I’ll do my best to get the video out this weekend!
I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!
