The moon...

Nothing special… Just a simple uv sphere with a texure I made in the gimp… really just the result of me experimenting with blender’s vast amount of buttons… oooh buttons…

I know It still needs more work, and the lighting is kind of off… If I could find the .blend I’d add more to the scene, It’s so simple though I think I’m just going to redo it

Please give me suggestions as to what else I can put in it… It is practically one of my first renders… be gentle.

Don’t forget to add some stars! (ohh more buttons) lol. But it looks pretty good. You might also want to try using a picture of the moon as a texture for extra realism. Good Luck!

And give it craters. Big craters. And small ones.

I think im going to make a star field in the gimp, and make that the background texture. And I’ll add craters, lots of 'em
But I was wondering How you can make a sort of outline in blender like this: http://www.cip.physik.uni-muenchen.de/~wwieser/render/img/earth/earth-northpole-aa0.3.jpg
I’ll probably add some comets too

Just create a new sphere and give it a halo texture. Make the sphere just a bit smaller than the moon sphere. And tweak the halo size. I think that should get you somewhere.

  1. The moon has no atmosphere. So you probably wouldn’t want to make an atmosphere.
  2. I like your texture… but yeah, I would use an actual picture of the moon if you want it to look like Earth’s moon.
