these are some things I rendered really a while ago but didn’t really care to post because they’re so wippy… %| they’re from a movie I’m working on with a coulpe of friends.
the project’s kinda frozen for the winter time and will be really started when the snow melts away and temperatures rise above froze-my-thumb-off-while-holding-the-camera-level…
it will be mostly live video but begins with a few cgi scenes and will be saturated with cool (& maby not so cool) cgi & fx mixed in the live action. all suggestions & comments very welcome!
I had a look at your movie samples yesterday, and they look really cool.
It’s almost professional quality ( no, no, I’m not kidding).
And where did you get those earth maps (the closest ones in the zoom) ?
The effect is really good although already been seen in other movies or advertising.
the maps are from the internet-map of the city where I live… shamelessly copied & stitched in photoshop propably against every copyright possible… but when I become the f/x guru of some big real movie production I’ll buy the rights… promise
but please people some critique & comments on improving… know myself allready quite few glitches but different oppinions are allways usefull!
Some thing to improve: Lighting…seem a bit dark, we can almost not see the starship in the first clip…maybe it’s my comp but I think so. Texture, texturing on the alien is too improve, it look good but not enough for a movie hehe…The zoom to the earth look very good and it’s a good idea. The particle of the jump effect need work, don’t know they don’t seem ok, maybe it’s me anyway that’s some great work and I hope it will go far :d
Hey good stuff, there, especially video #3. A cool thing to add to video #2 would be the TV monitor illuminating the alien like a computer monitor illuminates a computer operator in a darkened room.
The 3rd is the best, those particle FX from the ship are excellent and the zoom is pukka.
The second with the alien, superb anim. 2 things that stood out though, 1 the camera jolt during the pan in front of the alien, and from the same view there’s some texture discrepencies in the background.
First one, nice but the ship needs lighting, alot of ships have spot lights built on to the outer layer, to show Markings etc (Enterprise style).
But Wow , so good, looking forward to the spring when things start heating up again, this will be a cool movie, well done.
yea I actually have done this allready… started rendering all scenes after a redesign of some things last night… but will be some time before updates because it’s well over 2400 frames (of which quite a few have to be rendered multiple times) and at the render time of average 2min/frame + the post prod work… it’s gonna take a while…
and sonixsculpt I know about the camera jolt… it’s some weird glitch in the “track to” constraint I’m using for the camera… sorted out an even more drastic jolt a little further down the scene but will have to see what come of them when the renders are done…
the ship outside lighting is dark on purpose… in the new render it’s maby a bit lighter but basicly it’s a single-alien stealth mission to find a perfect specimen on earth so a brightly lit ship is not the one I want.
Also in a physical sense on long range space missions black ships would be the most effective on energy conservation basis… black gathers the most radiation from outside reducing the energy consumption in for example holding life support temperature inside the ship. 8)
the inner hull should be ofcourse of a lighter colour to stop radiation from leaking to space. (yea… maby this all is just a bunch of bs but hey… it sounds cool )
