The life of a man in Prison over many years. The film began as a couple random animation tests which were edited together so I apologize for the lack of story.
That’s a cool concept man. Well done! Doing a short animated film on your own is a daunting prospect so congrats on finishing it.
There are some "robotic’ and "gliding’ motions in your animation. (where your character will slowly move from pose A to pose B and it looks like a slow robot). Mess with your timing to see what gets a better result. For instance, Say it took the character ten frames to draw a line, consider making that five frames or ten frames with anticipation. Every motion should have intention. Look up the Illusion of Life book online and the holy animator’s bible - the Animators Survival Kit. THese will give you a great amount of help when approaching an animation.
You’ve got some great ideas in there. And I look forward to seeing more man. COngrats and good luck!
Actually, that’s a pretty good story, given an austere set and one character. Very watchable. I like how you fade to black so we never know whether his ‘door’ works or not.
nice concept, nice editing, sound design and animation can be improved, but it’s nice work!
Thanks for the feedback that was very helpful! I actually bought both of those books and am looking forward to reading them!
Thank you I will work on that!
Thanks, I must admit it began with no story just some test shots but eventually I began editing them together. As for the ending I was happy with it, originally it was going to be a cheesy ending where it turns out he’s outside the prison the whole time xD
Those are essential books in any animator’s library. Animator’s Survival Kit is more nuts and bolts, Illusion of Life is more inspiration and philosophy. Both are needed. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Thank you Orinoco! I am starting to read the Illusion of Life now!
