i’m in a bit of a pickle with one of the opening shots written for my next short. There is to be heavy rain, forming puddles and turning dirt to mud. This has me stumped at the moment, i thought the community might have some good methods for doing this in blender, or anything close, the script can be changed if there is a way to make anything close to it =)
Use particals with a wide emmitor (subdevided plane)over your sceen to “rain” down on the sceen.
Have dips in the ground model where you can slowley raise the level of water (water textured plane, possibly with some wave effect) over a very long period of time.
Have ground splash particals to make it appear that the first particals are splashing on the ground and the water plane.
Now im no expert, and there might be another way to acheive this effect, but this is my take on it…
Anywayz, best of luck with the project, hopefully i will have a few hours here soon to model up some cool swords, just to see if you like 'em…

Blend on, and blend well!!!
PS: As far as the disolving dirt into mud, it would most likley meen RVK animation, texture darkening to simulate wetness and possibly more particals for water flow around the RVK morphs…
ah thanks Bapsis, that sounds like the way to go, i was thinking along the lines of that but wasn’t really sure on anything. i’ll reply back on progress =)
Hmmm, would there be a way to animate the angle at which the rain particles are emited? To simulate the wind picking up and blowing the drops over at an angle?
Would it be as simple as slightly and slowley rotating the rain plane, or is there another way???
