The quality is good and it looks nice. But there’s not much going on. The title doesn’t look correct. Shouldn’t it be “fell from heaven”? Personnally I would simply call it “fallen star”.
I like the glow and the grassy field. The feeling I get from this is that the star is somehow man-made like it is from a Christmas tree my preference would be for something more ephemeral (3D/transparent). Also, I have the feeling that when a star falls the sky should be darkened and the distant parts of the field should fade into deep darkness.
The depth of field seems incorrect and the title doesn’t match. The glow is all right but needs a fog around it (try some simple compositing with the glare node). over all the composition is ok and the colors contrast ok but it doesn’t have much punch or story. i probably couldn’t do much better but I hope that the critique helps.
I agree with Kauranga and JediHobbit, especially for the shape of the star. It’s more “Truman show”-like than “fantasy”-like. If you don’t know the Truman show, let’s just say “man-made”. Also this shape is so easy to do. The possibilities are way beyond that.
I wouldn’t recommend taking inspiration from Pixar’s “La Luna” wich to me is the least original Pixar short ever. I think you should find your own shape and appearance and try to be original.
What about taking inspiration from real Solar flares ?
combined with a kind of glowing sea star ? That would be crazy. But somehow consistent because we would then imagine that stars use their suckers to stick to the sky, and one just detached.
That’s just a crazy idea but it’s to show you that you can be more creative.
In any case it’s still better if people go “WTF ???” when seeing your image than “yeah… classic”.
