I am also satisfied with the result. In fact it looks really good.
That really looks great! I would just use a higher AO ;-).
Thanks! And yes the AO will be increased to 15 samples in the final render…
Right now I’m testing something out… Because I don’t like the clouds just above the road too much… I’m adding a giant road cleaner there to cover them up…
I modified the letters so the look more like digital ones.
Also changed the color of the tunnel and modified it a bit (fixed the weird light that shined from inside the tunnel).
Here it is:
So, I think I’m done with the modeling and all the other stuff.
And I’m off to the Nodes.
Wish me luck!
[Edit]
Only 1 thing… I need your honest opinion…
Which image looks better, the one with the tunnel or the one without?
I did some test renders with different AO settings.
After I chose the 2 best settings I did 2 test renders with 15 samples of AO and 10 samples and a soft size 2 for the sun (hidden behind the clouds) so it gives a softer shadow. Both renders took 1 hour to render (each).
Here’s the one I used before: AO - Both - Energy: 3.0:
This one is brighter but I don’t like it because it looks like there is another sun shining at the position of the camera. And because of that the effect of the background fades. And the objects are over illuminated for a weaker light.
Here’s the one I like: AO - Both - Energy: 1.0:
I like this one because it’s darker, and it really makes the background effect. And the objects can still be seen.
