Yea, that’s a realy cool effect, but fairly simple. Me and my friend discussed how to make it in a simple way IRL just a day ago.
That’s cool, joecool. Brad Bird used this and other lens effects in The Incredibles. Doesn’t look as dramatic in CGI as it does in live action for some reason though. Seems like a long focal length in a CG camera doesn’t look as flat as it does with a real camera.
There’s a great crash-zoom in A Bug’s Life (when the hero ant first finds out he’s stuffed up). If you want a great example of this tracking zoom, look at The Fellowship of the Ring when Frodo first feels the riders on the road in the shire.
