Excellent post! Thanks for sharing. I visit CGtalk a lot too, but would have never found that topic hidden in the MAX forum.
I remember the afternoon that I spent reading most of that thread. Alot of information there. Those who have the patience to really read and study that thread will be very glad that they did.
That thread is pretty good. Lots of useful info there. I came across it when started using Wings 3d.
Wings is great. The modeling tools are incredible. The only drawback in my opinion is that it doesn’t support metaform, like Blender does.
I love how you can set the camera mode to ‘Blender’ and manipulate the viewport. It takes some of the pain out of learning a totally new workflow.
Going back on topic, that thread helps me understand some of the planing required for turning polygon models into smooth organic forms.
