Things Stuck On

So, I’m trying to clean up my desk a little bit, and suddenly realized what a mess I truly have. Got me to wondering about other people’s environments, and I wanted a little commiseration.

I have, attached to the main computer that I use in my home, the following:

  • Monitor
  • Mouse
  • Keyboard
  • Speakers
  • Photo printer
  • CD/DVD printer
  • Printer/Scanner combo
  • External hard drive
  • Analog video input device
  • External sound card
  • Cable modem
  • Wireless router
  • USB travel drive
  • 12 interface cables
  • 14 power cables (some don’t appear to be connected)
  • 4 power strips
  • 3 electrical extension cords
  • Microphone, headset, wired audio remove control, and hookup for a digital video camera. That’s not counting the other two computers in the house. Plus, I’ve been thinking about getting yet another external hard drive, 'cause I seem to be a data pack rat.

Anybody else got a mess like this? I can’t even see the carpet underneath the nest of wires and power strips on the floor.

EEEeeeeeeeeeerrrrrr… ooooookaaaaay…
I got a mouse and that’s it. Scanner, printer etc. are connected only when I need 'em.
Maybe you ought to know I got an internal CD/DVD reader and writer.

Sorry, but I need order and simplicity. To a certain extent.

your lucky i have :

I have, attached to the main computer that I use in my home, the following:

  • Monitor
  • Mouse
  • Keyboard
  • Speakers
  • Printer/Scanner combo
  • Wireless router
  • USB extender

  • 9 power cables
  • 2 power boards
  • Microphone, headset,on my desk i have blender 2.3 guide, the blender book, blender gamekit, digital texturing &painting book, 3 folders of print outs of tutorials including a huge pile of papers with key stoke notes flight sim x box and cd and book a joystick the duel scanner printer 2 digital cameras a spare mouse the recharger for my wireless mouse and my bottle of water!

ild have to say i probably could use a clean up.

err haven’t we had one of these threads recently?

Mine’s a mess too:

  • Monitor
  • Keyboard
  • Printer
  • Speakers
  • Mouse
  • Mousemat
  • Microphone
  • Wireless keyboard and mouse connector
  • Wireless internet connector
  • Computer games
  • Printer paper
  • Miscellaneous paper
  • School timetable
  • Various pencils, rulers, pencil cases, etc.I could do with sorting it out, but I can’t be bothered.

Relax, it was only a glitch in the Matrix.

I checked most carefully before I posted, and I did specify things actually connected to the computer.

I may have been interpreting similar threads as being sufficiently different in a manner that was perfunctorily too narrow in definition, but I am a programmer and a geek after all, so that’s kinda my thing, y’know.

Went shopping for a new external hard drive last night, and also gave some consideration to getting an external DVD burner, because the internal one I have doesn’t do double layer. Haven’t picked up either one, but I think it’s only a matter it time before the peripherals grow to the point where I’ll never see the carpet again.
