this in blender?

i would really like to know how to cast that shadow…
i tried in BI to make a cube(material: volumetric) and the mesh and a lamp, and it doesn’t work…
i tried checking the halo box from the lamp settings and it still doesn’t work…
it’s somehow kinda…
in blender, it shows the edges of the non shadow, but the shows the shadows (the pic)

It looks like in the pic. that the shadow may not even be volumetric in nature, it’s a very dark shadow cast onto a wall by an extremely bright lamp (enough to blow out the wall).

You might want to try tweaking the density of the volumetric material, because otherwise the glare that is being scattered from the lamp is blocking the view of the shadow.

This is the kind of render Ace Dragon is talking about.

With more tweaking of the angle of the emitter plane and the intensities, you could get closer to what you want. I suspect that shadow, though, was done in post processing, with some kind of directional blur filter.
