I just thought I’d share a render I did awhile back. It’s actually one of the very few that I’m happy with (it looks tons better than most of my other work and manages to convey my original idea). I’ve had Blender for a while, but I have put most of my time into using the GE rather than the rendering (I’m more of a programmer than artist). Anyway, here it is. Comments/crits are always welcome. I’m not sure about the title. It was originally titled “Thomas Edison’s Desk,” but I think it conveys, not only the progress of that particular invention, but progress in general (or maybe I’m just crazy:confused:). Any ideas?
I see the kite in the background, ideas about progress…
Maybe put a cell phone on the table in the foreground or if that would ruin it then perhaps go back to James Clerk Maxwell and put a black board in the dark space in the background with some of his math on it.
@Carbonflux: I like your idea about the blackboard. I took a look at the Feynman diagram article–it’s all greek to me But I guess I just have to be able to draw it–not understand it. Thanks for the idea!
@padfoot7726: Thanks for the response and crit. I’ll look into adding some nice shadows. As far as Ben Franklin and his kite, that’s kind of the idea. It’s not meant to be everything done by Edison, but a sort of “reflection” of the events and discoveries leading up to it. From the time of candles, to Franklin’s advancements in electricity, signified by his kite experiment (the key on the table by Edison’s glasses is the key from that experiment), to Edison’s discoveries and the lightbulb. I admit everything’s a little vague. It was just a neat idea I thought up.
