That must have taken forever to make. How long did it take you? Did you use only Blender? The result is really well done

Thank you! Yes, it did take me a while. Mostly the face since I kept noodling around with it because it was hard to make it look like how I remembered him. He’s drawn slightly different in each scene and the references change a lot so he’s probably open to a bit of interpretation. I didn’t really keep track of time so I’m not sure how long he took but it was several hours. It was done completely in Blender. I did a sculpture, then retopology, then multi resolution and then sculpted the multi res surface. Materials were fun to play around with and are all procedural. No texture maps or vertex painting. I used a lot of noise textures and occlusion maps.

Brilliant. I really like the skin tone.

It’s really incredible and really well done, great work. It’s nice to see the passion that went into it

This and your Bilbo are just amazing. There was a Goblin King at one time somewhere on the internet as well. There is a goblin out there.

The Rankin Bass versions of these characters strangely don’t seem to feature too much.

Thank you! Tom Jordan did a pretty nice Goblin. I’m working on a couple more, (Gollum and a Troll). There were a lot of really good character designs in that and it is surprising to not see them featured more.
