Threedy maxon comp -- update #14 -- pg 3 -- image heavy

I’ve decided to go with the “Oh yes… it is a carnivore!” theme.

This was my first head mesh. I has way too many errors, so I’m going to scrap it and start another.

After getting to this point I found the messed up edgeloops around the eyes to be too much of a hassle. Head V2.0 forthcoming ;).

looks scarry. what type of character is it going to be? are you going to have a body with it. looks interesting.

Hey, Wu :). My goal is to have this guy grinning with a big mouth full of sharp teeth :). You can check out the comp on the link in my previous post.

I’m not sure whether I’m going to make a body for him. This might remain a headshot.

I dont like the new eyes. The previous ones are better IMO.

Wu: You know, I really really like your idea. I think I may just go with tentacles. Actually, you’ve inspired me! :). That pic you posted–I’m thinking of something along those lines. An underwater pic of this guy wrapping his tentacles around a ship that’s passing overhead. That might be a little too ambitious, considering my skills and the time frame, but I think I’ll at least give it a try!

hey sounds cool, not sure why but just thougth it would look neat with lots of arms like a octopus, just that big head and lots of arms. look forward to see what you got. :smiley:

New mesh looks good, only thing troubling me is the nostrils. They seem to be coming out instead of going in. However this is prob part of your concept, so excuse me if so.

Wu: Ok :). The current idea is to either have the tentacle dude grabbing a diver, or having him grabbing the camera, and having two arms and hands sticking out (like a first person game).

Sonix: Thanks man. The nostrils are supposed to be sticking out LOL ;). Though everything is still major WIP.

Guys, I’m seriously pumped for the ramp shaders in 2.34. And the timing of that release is perfect for this comp :Z.

are you planing on adding any more arms, mabye two more, but looks very nice as is.

Thanks a lot, Wu! I’m trying to figure out right now what to do with him next. I want to add two long arms (that’re going to be gripping the arms of the “person” looking at this thing).

I think I’m going to go with a “first person” perspective on this one. This guy is going to be trying to eat you LOL ;).

I’m envisioning the tentacle guy braced against a rock, at, say, a thirty or forty degree angle to the ground, trying to reel in the unfortunate soul that wanted to study him.

I need to work on those suckers–cause they suck LOL :P. I want to get them closer to the tentacles on the composited pic you posted earlier.

Anyway: I just figured out how to combine radiosity with normal textures–which is the method I think I’m going to use for this piece.
