OK I think I’m going to stick with four arms (I can’t get it to look right with more).

Plan now is for the same scene, except instead of being braced against the rock the guy will be holding onto it with his suckers–so he’ll kind of be stretched between the rock and the guy.

But… Less talk, more blender! :stuck_out_tongue:

The Chief: Thank you. I think the teeth in the earlier pic looked good as well. I’m having some trouble with radiosity and posing, it really isn’t certain whether I’ll be able to get them looking like that or not.

To render I wireframe like that: make a copy of your mesh and fatten very slightly (alt + s in editmode). Give the original, smaller mesh a shadeless grey shader, and give the fatter mesh a shadeless black shader, and turn on wire mode. Then render with your flavor of either non-subsurfed or optimal subsurfed.

i like the color you got going on the creature,
the last photo looks a little dark, and the really nice detial in the arms and on the rock seems to be lost, i would do a brighter more colorfull pic,

Thanks Wu! Here’s a brighter render. Looks like the detritus in the water is going to take A LOT of tweaking. But I have a lot of time till the deadline so no worries :P.

On the agenda:

  • Color map for the guy. UV mapping… LOL I guess I have to start some time ;).
  • Bump map for the guy? Maybe… Produrals seem to be working ok–but might not be good enough for final render.
  • More rocks.
  • Tweak up the environment (detritus floating in water / light, etc).
  • Model goggles and set them in front of the camera (per excellent suggestion from the threedy thread).
  • Model hand that will be in front of face (research some diving equipment).

Alright… Less talk, more blender!!! ;).

New idea: Have someone peeking over a rock at the guy. The guy has just spotted him (or something like that).

I dunno why but I think the picture makes him look kinda small, crab sized. How big is he supposed to be? Man sized or much bigger/smaller?

I know you haven’t got to this bit yet but maybe with some more background detail, a seabed or a sunken vessel in the BG it’ll look bigger.

Keep up the good work, this looks like it’s gonna be a pretty imaginitive scene.

I love it. It just screams sub-surface scattering to me! (i know it isnt implimented yet, but that’s just what i thought of immediately) It has alot of character.

GCat: LOL! I know what you mean :P. I’m not sure how to do it, though. hm… Maybe I’ll zoom in a bit and move the camera up a tiny bit… Or maybe I’ll just leave it like this. I don’t really want to put a nose in because then it’s going to look wierd without a face, and if I put a face in then it’s going to block the camera LOL.
