During the work on this project there were certainly a lot of things I’ve learned.
first and foremost: I still have a lot to learn !
then: i am able to get by with only 4 hrs sleep 
things learned and intensified in blender:
- particle system
- compositor
- material nodes
- rendertime friendly techniques.
workflow lessons learned:
- I need to work in a much more structured way. Too much time wasted because
the planning was bad.
and finally i experienced the first glimpses of matte painting techniques.
So all in all, regardless of the final ranking, its already a big win for me :).
