Very nice, I have a 1:35 model of a tiger tank I made some time ago. You should model the tank crew men coming out from the trapdoors
Wow really? Could I get you to upload a picture of the top? I found it kind of hard to find references from the top view
Ye that would be epic… I am thinking of ideas for a scene and this would defiantly be cool.
natholas try primeportal.net for some walkarounds, may have what you are looking for.
yes but I’ll warn you, sir, that model was made when I was like 12 so it may be imperfect, better, far from being perfect
@Manorial Thats ok… Im sure it will help
@brokenpixel I had a look around but i cant seem to find anything to do with a tiger… could you link me to the page that you mean? thanks.
You know what I hate? Replies like that. Totally ignoring the outstanding modeling and pointing out some minor technique variant to make the poster look smart.
1)I’m sure Natholas knows about the mirror mod. Few people don’t.
2)I’m sure he decided to use it or not. Whatever the result of that decision, your post implies that he would actually go to the trouble of modeling a completely new set of identical treads. Until you came along of course. I guess he’ll know better for the future. Sarcasm.
Beautiful modeling! Of course you could have used the “Tank” modifier and saved yourself the trouble…
Take it easy my friend, I like it when anyone even replies to my threads. I pop over to CGSociety and there’s threads all the time that no one even replies to.
The tank looks great, I would bevel some of the sharp edges, I’ve been noticing in my models a lot lately that sharp edges scream CG and am still waiting for the BMesh bevel tool to get a little more robust so I can remedy a lot of them. Otherwise I like it, hope you have a chance to weather it some.
Fantastic model, great work, love the detail.
I’m a tank head.
See if any of these do you any good

Wow lots of comments
Thanks for your kind work guys. @NRK yes i agree with what you said, sometimes you make a post and get no replies but then again useful comments would be helpful…
@brokenpixel yes thank you those might come in handy. One thing though is that I like large references and most of those are a little on the small side, I cant complain though
Here is another update, I decided to try a render without the camo and see how that would look. Also there is some more scratches and wear and tear (however I am not anywhere near done with this)

(click for high res)
Let me know what you think of this grey version and if you think it looked better with camo.
Thanks
Its looking really good, i much prefer the grey version personally, you should think about adding some burn markings around the exit of the turret, unless your going for that brand new look.
looking forward to the finished model
Thanks redtop92 I think I have decided to stick with the grey version. Here is a quick test at creating a scene:
I have not decided what I want to do with the foreground yet… Maybe some anti tank mines or a road block or something…
Any ideas?
Hmmm ye that sounds like a good idea… and then maybe a barrel or 2 coming out from the right aiming at him… (im thinking revenge of the shermans)
Yes. I like images which tell stories. I think all successful images tell a story…whatever that means to this image. Hard to say - maybe it’s something like “The tiger thinks he’s got the drop on the sherman, but he doesn’t see the guy planting a sticky bomb.” That sort of thing - a short story contained in the image.
Looks awesome.
Question on the ropes on the sides: did you color them brown or did you use a UV image?
I was working a steampunk walker a while back and i had trouble UV unwrapping the rope which was a bezier curve turned into a mesh.I scraped it later out of frustration.
I have not added a texture to the rope. the way that I am creating the rope though makes it easy to uv unwrap. I posted a screen shot and description on how I created them on the first page of this post. I hope it helps
thanks,much appreciated.
Here’s a rope texture I made a while ago. High poly to low poly bake, diffuse and normal. You can see it mapped to a cylinder in the thumbs.
Awesome,thanks.
