right now if you make a search you find mostly things about 2.49 not 2.5
so may be it would more appropriate to have a new forum for 2.6 alome ?
what do you think ?

would be better to add a date filter to the search function
…or a ‘version’ filter. Many generic questions aren’t tied to a particular version, and that would be a shame because threads that apply to all versions (ie generic CGI) would not be duplicated, creating yet another place to hunt for information.
I answer the same questions over and over. Newbies don’t seem to use the search.
If we are going to add a feature to the forum I suggest allowing attachments to the python forum.

valid point. also, the most visible newbies post questions in the damn “News and Discussion” forum. The the problem in the forum is actually organic, but we could still do some organisation for the smart users, so one day we have a clean forum with pertinent tutorials and support (we are getting a brand new Blender anyway and mixing materials for so “different programs” would be clunky). Imagine having to deal with the “are you using 2.49- or 2.5+?” question over and over again when someone asks for help.

I think it’s a bad idea. Although there’s a big differences between 2.49 and 2.5 there’s still a lot that the same. And there will always will be informations that’s outdated and can’t creating forums whenever things change…
I know few forums who did this
in particular useful for tech support for different versions.
