I just noticed that the time node does not display properly in the composite node display. When I render things out it’s fine but in the display it does not show properly. Is this a known issue? And if so is there any work around for getting some kind of display other than rendering out a quick animation?
The Render event is the trigger to pump everything through the noodle and update/refresh the node editor window display. Just changing frames does not force this; otherwise it would take forever to jump around in frames as Blender recomputes everything. Using your arrows does not repump the composite node map for this reason. The same is true if you use the UV/Image Editor to see the Viewer node, and if you Do Composite and choose a window as the render output; they are not updated when scrolling through frames.
Once you settle on a new frame, click Render in buttons window or on a RenderLayer node to refresh all the images.
