time saving idea

once you have a working rig, create a default blend that has a named biped armature and an empty mesh object, cube or whatnot, that has the same names as the bones as groups (with nothing assigned) that way not having to rename them each time by hand.
question: does the python api have access to armature bone names, or to group names in a mesh? if it has both, copying one to the other could be done.

Good idea. Great idea, in fact. Unfortunately, I was informed by theeth in the python forum that the API does not allow access to vertex groups. Grrrr.
