How long does it take an average person to create a model and the textures for that model?
Im make a model right now and it seems to take for ever to get it done. which is why Im asking.

LOL
That would depend on the model and texturing…and the complexity of the two. The time it takes to create a good model can be reduced with experience.
…ummm…what are you trying to model ?
Like QWERT said, depends on what you are making. Might take an hour or might take an week.
I’v been trying to get ideas off of Unreal tornament to make a character. It’s takin me about 14 hours to make the legs and texture them up to the knees.
I’ve been on and off of it for two week know. I don’t have much time durring the day to get much done.
well… it takes me about ten minutes, and then…
after that, i just give up.
lol
i cant even UV texture
mini tut on creating UV textures-one method:
Additional note: If you select the vertices in the UV window (always use bounds select, sice there are 4 per grouping) and move them, they will change their mapping to the specified area.
I think I average about 8 hours for modeling and texturing. The main thing that eats time for me is rendering. I need to render after about 30 secs of work sometimes when I’m texturing, but when each render takes 20mins or so and it takes me for ever.
Big projects like my old superhero sidekick model and the Johnny 5 model (still not finished. ), took a whole month of about 8-10 hrs per day, for modeling, texturing and rigging.
However I do find that I can start 3 or 4 different scenes in one sitting before I feel really enthusiastic about spending more time on the one I feel has the most potential.
When you start to get bored, do something else. Blender’s like a Playstation, they both have time vacuum abilities that are not clearly stated on the box.
Sonix.
well as the other said it all depends on your model…
but on my side, I take about 40% of the time to model and texture…and the 60% is tweaking untill I get the render like I want (tweaking is lighting setup, some more details sometime, tweaks in colors, cam angle, etc…)
so sometime my models are made really fast and could be alot better…well I usually get bored of what I see in my scene so I stop working on it
Sorry to be a bugger for the rules, but this is like the 50th topic that you’ve posted that should go in the news and chat forum and not off-topic. Remember, off-topic MEANS off-topic as in stuff NOT related to blender or other 3D stuff.
