tiny but annoying problem with blender interface.

Hey all, like the title says i am having a tiny but annoying problem with the blender interface I was hoping some guru could help me with.

It’s not going to stop me using blender, it’s more a “minor pain in the ass” level problem so, hey, don’t knock yourselves out trying to show me a fix, but if it can be fixed easy, i’d be grateful.

Basically I use the quad view of blender in the interface, ok? And sometimes when i expand a screen then go back to the quad view i find one of my quad windows has changed to the file window. @#$%! I have to go click on the window tab and reset it to 3d view. Get the picture? it doesn’t happen all the time, and didn;t happen when i tried to get a screenshot of it (Naturally…) but it does happen enough to be something of an asspain. Anyone know what is going on? anyone else have this? If I know i’m not he only one it happens to it might at least make it less annoying.

You mean “expand a screen” like ctrl + arrow up? A quad view screen or something else (Properties, Timeline etc.)?

I tried, but couldn’t replicate it :frowning:

Make sure you’re on the latest version.

Ok, I alwauys update blender so no worries there dude.

Here’s some illustrations:

How my interface screen is set up:

Now I hit crrl+^ to get this:

Now to grasp my issue here imagine that when i click on the back to previous tab up top i get the earlier screen BUT the window I fullscreened is now the file select window. So I have 5to click on the tab and select 3d view again. See it now?

Thanks for replying in a hurry in any event though.

Try pressing Shift+Space on the window you want to maximize and then pressing Shift+Space while your mouse is near the center of the maximized window to get it back to normal. Does the file select window still pop up?

Pressing Ctrl+<, >, ∧ or v will actually cycle you between the different window types.
