THE LECTURERS LOVED IT SOOOO MUCH
and if you don’t understnad what it means thats becasue i havn’t explained it.

so if you really want to know the symbolism behind it then just ask!!

wow really good painting!

I can’t really find anything to critic…

very good job, as always

oh yeah!!!

the colours kinda got a bit wasted in the scan-of the colour copy-of the origonal. so they don’t look as good as they do in real life.

oh well!!!

hey man, that looks wicked! i love the buzzy bee / kiwi fruit thing, thats awesome. er, perhaps you should explain it to the others…

OK this is the assignment that stemed from my

question on “CHOICE” and the meaning of the word (you may remember it)

well we were asked to move away from the word as a word (e.g. move away from the direct meaning of the word)

well the New Zealanders thought of CHOICE as a LOCAL WORD meaning COOL, or AWSOME while the USA people thought of it as freedom etc…

so i decided to explore to DIFFERENCE of the two cultures.

we have a soft drink here called L&P which is a New Zealand ICON, yet it was bought out by COKE so now is US owned (yet still a new zealand icon)

so i focused on the idea that we have a country but we don’t own it ourselves.

hence the “Buzy bee” (a famous New Zealand childrens toy) being juiced.
but when it is cut in half it is a “KIWIFRUIT” becasue kiwi fruit were named here in NZ becasue we are KIWI’s LOL.

well anyway it symbolises our culture being juiced and sold to other countrys. e.g its just an OBJECT or essence that you can sell and own.

the front shows a child owning it in the sense that they have a great connection and emotional bond to NZ. while the inside shows a totally artificial sense of ownership in that its a comodity.

people should understand it now!!!

raucious applause
