Tol`s Bridge

this is me bridge pier thing, inspired by Tol’s Ron Loo game (thanks mate, this ones for you)

here it is,

i need to

  1. finish construction around the base
  2. add rivets (NOT 32 32 uvspheres this time!)
  3. make an airship :frowning:
  4. make a boarding mechanism to the airship
  5. re work camera angles
  6. texture

i also need to fix that hole in the rock.

maybe i should do a fly by with the camera?

oh and sort out the wooden planking, atm its waaay too uniform

c+c, hit me baby

:o Looks awesome! I can’t wait to see the rest of it.

Impressive start. This is looking very, very cool.

looks good

Looks absolutelly awesome…now please dont ruin it with bad textures…not that you will or anything…but sometimes great starts come to bad endings…weee waant moore XD

wow, thatnks for the positive crits guys, i must be getting better.

here is a bit more, ive finished the main structure of the bridge, and started on the airship, but it just doesnt that good to me, though i like the balloon, i might start over on the rest of it.

Hi GFXIdiot!

It looks great and I am very happy and honoured! I am anxious to see it finished, but take your time

That ship looks good too, it reminds me an old films based on Verne novels and created by Czech director Karel Zeman. Try google search, you may find pictures from his films very inspirative in matter of fantastic airships and other vehicles (especially his film “Ukradena vzducholod” which means Stolen ariship in english). There are some pictures here, for example:

To be honest, I would probably never have airships in Ron Loo withouth great influence of animation and design art of this filmmaker, one of the best in Czech movie history ever

  1. make a boarding mechanism to the airship

In our game we have solved this mechanism a few weeks ago, so I am very curious what you will come with, maybe you will find better one
Good luck and BIG thank you!

aaaw

shucks :expressionless: :expressionless:

draws circles in sand with toe

okay, here it is with a little more

ive been working on thie ship some, but atm it looks shite so i left it out, that and the waterfall im trying to make on the right in that groove there.

oh and the sunrise is taken from my bedroom window one morning

Bloody hell :o Looks better and better. I love thal lighting! Maybe is that metal too specular imho…
I just hope that nobody from Peregrius will see this, they would replace me, humilate me and fire me, all at same time

now with textured steel, and yes, i am aware that you can see the repeats very easily, ill have to make it seamless, but it will be a placeholder for now.

see previous post for image.

Much better with that texture  Maybe some bolts (screws - don´t know which word is more precise in English) on that half circle holders add real feel too
BTW I used for that chains and catwalk structure rusty steel from Blender material library (it is little bit old now, but stil it rocks).

Nice update and yes, the lighting is great.

Also, the texture is too specular. Turn down the spec on the steel.

okay, heres it with the balloon, i forget to reload the new steel texture though, without the repeats and with less spec, whoops.

im still not happy with thi main hull of the airship, i nneed to make it more galleon like i think.

you can just see the big wheel i have for my boarding mech as well, but that all needs work. just thought id give you guys an update, dont let me stop working on this

enjoy

Hey GFX,

So far the whole image looks fine.

Perhaps some “steam paddle boat” style on the airship might fit.
