You know when I first downloaded 1.67, and mysteriously dissapeared for 3 weeks , I emrged from that steep learning curve convinced that a programer did not design this thing. An artist did. How else could it be so easy , once you know how.

Ton was upbeat and totally posotive on the outcome of the funddrive. He said he had allready been aproached by Apple and seemed to hint that yeah they can be ok with with helping out an open source project as long as it’s not open for windows. …right?

Some other notes of interested,
The open source initiative will not include wireless technologies.
Blender the original from 1.67 is written in C and not coomented. All other development from NaN was written in C++ and commented in English. He expects to host the CVS tree within 90 days at http://www.blender3d.com Pending of course a sucessfull outcome to the fundraising initiative. After the meeting the fashion concession was an instant hit and I’m sure he sold out at 10.00 (usd)The meeting was enthusiasticl but small (12 - 15) But the highlight was Ton himself. As illustrated by the following quote:

“You know, I’m not really a programer. I’m an artist. I like to make things”
Ton Roosendall
July 22, 2002 Siggraph, San Antonio Texas

Unfortunately I couldn’t stay long after as I had a timeline to keep since I wasn’t supposed to be in San Antonio, huh… on Monday…Anyway I’m going back on Wednesday and will update .

15 people, that’s not bad for such a last minute thing. Sounds like everything is going well!
