Larry: I saw your post, don’t worry,

Ahh, no, Larry, that would be me…

Not even 24 hours from WIP to Finished Projects. In that time you even posted a lot to this forum.
Look at how long others have their work in WIP.

“Lazy” certainly doesn’t do you right. But you are impatient and restless. You should target your efforts better*.

What you need to do to improve is not solely trying to improve on technical (blender) skills. Take a step back from your computer and look around. Look at nature. Look at architecture. Look at (“real” world) arts. Get a view for details. If one can’t see details then one can’t model them. Get a view for scenes and composition. Look at what makes art dramatic, funny, interesting, …, so you can compose your work. Get a topic, a theme for each piece of work. Try to get this before you even think of switching on the computer.

Gather patience. Post less – this is not because I don’t want to read your posts, certainly not. But you can use the time for improving your skills. Concentrate.

P.S.: I posted this because I suggested using the WIP forum in another thread.

CD, I find it an insult when you post artwork that you’ve spent less than 24 hours on, and very likely this was only 1 or 2 hours worth including the rendering. You post artwork almost every day and expect people to comment.

Seriously, your taking the piss out of this community. Spend a week or 2 on one piece of “art” and then send it in. Otherwise, I hope you drop dead soon.

That was very rude and immature of you. How dare you wish death upon someone?

Naah, the wish was probably just to reinforce his comment though it may have the side effect of CD killing himself… though that is quite unlikely because he won’t listen to what people tell him anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Now I do agree on what he said, you seriuosly need to spend more time and effort on your work, even though this one has gone through the WIP section you’ve barely done anything people suggested you could do to improve your image.

I was hardly going to say something nice now was I? Besides, you need to take things less directly, ie. read the whole sentance and understand the context, rather than ‘zomg, he wished he was dead oh nose! and he was so serious cause this isnt the interweb and all’

Rude, yes, but so is spending 2 hours on an image a day and posting the same pointless crap all the time and being so emo about the replies. This image doesnt look too bad, but obviously it has had very little effort put in towards it, as i said, i find it insultive. If someone is constantly rude to you, especially in this manner, why let them continue to walk over you /this community? thus, ill be pleasent to CD when he shapes up.

Immature; that depends. If you’re 3 years old and take such a comment directly then obviously you’re just a fool for interpreting it that way.

How about thinking about what you say before you actually say it. It doesn’t matter if this is the internet or not, you still said it. I read your whole post so I know what you were saying; I’m not stupid. Can you at least give him credit for this? It’s not as bad as his other renders, I thought this one was actually pretty good.

The image reminds me of Mega City One of the Judge Dredd comics

If it where me I’d remove those tower(?) things (they remind me of chunks of greasy meat, and they just don’t seem to fit…) and place other buildings of similar type to the main one, farther back into the haze, making it more of a cityscape, but thats just my opinion…

Edit: ACK! David, stop digging up these old posts. If you have something to say the artist, send them a PM instead of reserecting them. If it’s older than a month, don’t /bump it.

I think you are getting quite good with your lighting and texturing, but your modeling is always just some sort of array/discombobulation abstract. It may be all you are interested in doing, but if you want to take it to the next level…
