Topology: eliminating this 'star'


The five pointed ‘star’ in this mesh results in a non-optimum render. Is there a good way to eliminate this star?


You could bevel the edge loop around the bottom of the eye socket to change the 6-pointed stars (bad)
into 5-pointed ones (good):

Select edge loop at base of the eye and use CTRL+B to bevel:
