Total awesomeness! (Link Removed)

I found a 3D ripping thread on the net. It has a lot of models from many games. Pretty sweet, huh?

Please don’t post links that are not 100 % legit. Blender, BlenderArtists, and the majority of blender users don’t want to be associated in any way, shape or form with ripped versions of anything - it is the ethos that drives the open source movement. Think before you post.

Oh… sorry… Is it THAT illegal??? I mean, I knew it wasn’t meant to be, considering the models are being exported to a computer, but is it really really bad? If it is, I don’t want to do this any more and would like this thread removed.

Some game companies consider it (ripping their stuff) copyright infringement, others consider it free advertising. When it comes to this kind of murky territory BlenderArtists doesn’t want to get involved. What you do on your computer is your business, what you do here can reflect on the whole blender community, the Foundation included, so be sure it will be deleted if ever it’s posted. Don’t feel bad about it, we’ve all been carried away in our excitement at one time or another - this is just an opportune time to explain the situation (so I won’t delete it because others may learn from it, I’ll just change the title).

YEAH!!! It’s been removed, long live open source.

you send me the link!

Don’t rip game content… it’s stealing. Make your own.

I’d rather you don’t give yourself a way to steal content from big name games that are trademarked, then if you post any of them in a game you made posted on this forum Fligh will just rip the link out of your thread before you can rip another game model.

He has the power to rip screens showing illegal practices out of threads too, and also banning the member responsible for that if they’re repeat offenders.

+1

I mean really… how would you like it if people stole content from your game without your permission? In addition, (like Ace Dragon said) you would never be able to make a (legal) public release of your game.
