Touch screen input with BGE

A single tap on the screen is not registered in the BGE, but a double tap or a dragging action is.

Does anyone have any experience working with touch input in BGE? Is there a solution or workaround, apart from modifying and compiling our own version of Blender? Our systems are using Windows 8.1.

I have the same issue 6 years later, using 2.79b blender game engine. Anyone found a solution to this yet?

IIRC, the first tap is recognised as a hover action. I ended up making a touch-screen mode where I activated things on mouse-over rather than on left-click.
