Took on blender 1 month ago (and 3d modelling in general, having being enspired by some nice cg works on youtube, made in house, so to say), and now I am trying to finish toyota chaser (gx100) car model. I have being modelling it for a week now. I must admit, it is a pain in the ass to model your first car, but with it comes great deal of experience, which is a nice thing.
Toyota chaser was chosen, because its very popular car, I have toyota cresta, was gonna model it, but could not find blueprints, the closest I found was toyota chaser, which in essence the same car with different body.
Ok, I post some reference images, because I think this car is not so popular around the world, and also what I have got so far.
Im also a newbie in CG, I think you choose a nice car, sometimes it is good too se a cars that you see more often on the streets I agree with andr3yangel, check out blenderguru.com and add some textures to the side of the wheels good luck with your projects!
Ok, I am posting next images for your razor sharp eye to give some feedback. I changed what was suggested by @Andr3yAngel, and did some back of the car, and overall was fine-tuning vertices, which is a very fun thing I must admin, one thing to notice, you can play with them forever :), so I decided to move on… Started headlights, and yes, I lifted the car, previous height was to low, turning was impossible. Also finished windshield, back side windows, and back window.
So here what I have got so far and some ref images.
I think that you should bring the rims out to the edge of the tyre, it would look much more realistic… Are you rendering in cycles? Otherwise a nice model, I like your clean edges.
You might be right, I think the color I used makes it less believable, not often you see outer ring of the rim being in glossy black :), so I might change color later to something like this. And yes of course I will add some tyre textures, but will do it later, because I will have to make them, if you looked carefully you would notice it has unusual thread, it is actually yokohama parada spec 2, so I have not seen textures on the internet, so will have to do it myself.
Yeap, I am using cycles, or rather trying to do so, still have not scrutinized it too much. And yes, when we finished, we have got to drag race, your car vs mine :), I think mine will beat yours, look at the exhaust, its a beast car!
Yeah thats better if you ask me, nothing wrong with the color but it was really hard to see that there actually is a rim all the way to the edge of the tyre… Do you have those rims on your car?
About the exhaust system… This reminds me of the days when I was a child and we compared my cousin’s Škoda Octavia and our Renault Safrane, Škoda was faster for sure because it had twin exhaust…now imagine what a Ferrari can do with four of them! haha
We should make a short drag race animation.
Ok, I had to redo door handles because they just did not look right, now I am kind of happy with the result, and I must admit that so far the door handles were hardest to model! Who could have thought
I also reduced wheel size, and now IMHO car looks like a car, before that it looked like a truck.
Made real life exhaust for this car, and I found some hdri maps and applied them to the environment… I think it makes model look more believable, I am kind of happy with the results as of now
Hi guys, its me again, with the final version of the car, that is I consider project as finished
A lot of fine tuning has been done, so that car looks solid.
I didn’t use nodes, everywhere simple colors, also no textures were used, apart from environment, so the result on the photos, color selection is limitless , as of now let it be this color.
So, actually I built this model for my next training which is gonna be car rigging, in particular drifting.
Please constructive critics is welcomed, do not be easy on me just because its my first car
