Trace an applied texture


Im trying to make a low poly Earth for my animation, and i was wondering if it is possible to add a texture of the earth to a ICOSPHERE so i can select and extrude the landmass?

You could, but you’d be better off just using texture/materials to sell the landmasses being off of the surface a bit.

why not take a low poly sphere and cut it, then unwrap it, and just use a normal flat world map as texture?
