Today Ton setup an old Silicon Graphics Workstation at the Institute and installed TRACES on it, the predecessor of Blender. Totally amazing, because it already was very much similar to what later became Blender 2.49, and even in the current Blender you can see these roots.

I wonder if the key strokes are the same?!

didnt knew that blender has a predecessor running on amiga originally.
quote from wiki:

“…Blender was developed as an in-house application by the Dutch animation studio NeoGeo and Not a Number Technologies (NaN). It was primarily authored by Ton Roosendaal, who had previously written a ray tracer called Traces for Amiga in 1989. The name “Blender” was inspired by a song by Yello, from the album Baby…”

edit: googling for traces i found these demo reels:

Really? Two of my favourite things from the nineties. My Amiga and my Yello albums combined to creat emy favourite software from the naughties.

Amiga? Interesting… The video shows traces running on an SGI machine from 1992, so the amiga version would have to be even older than that…

And it is!
