Tracking Data Applied 2 an Empty?

I was wondering if it was possible to do a single point track in Blender and then apply the X,Y, data onto an empty in 3D land? If so, can you please advise me how?
I need to a 3D simulation of something that will be applied onto some footage. It has to be tacked onto something in the shot.
Thanks in advance,
M

Hmmmm.
I discovered the Link Empty to Track button… but now I wonder if I can bake that animation to the Empty, so I can massage it in the graph editor if I need to.
Any suggestions?

OK… did a bit of digging.
Figured it out on my own thankfully.
For those who might be looking at this and wondering the same thing.
Select the object in the 3d viewport, then find the animation tab in the the tool shelf in the 3d viewport (T key).
Select Bake Animation.
A window pops up. I had to enable visual keying.
Press OK and you’re off to the races.
