I had a nice idea about getting the community working together… but I rarely go into the Traditional 2D forums… or the 3d ones as of late… but if 3d modelers are wondering what to create for their next master piece… they could always jump into the twisted minds of the pencil sketchers and ‘bring to life’ (that is… 2d artwork can be breathtaking)… or just simply recreate one artists interpretation for another… 2d to 3d… just pop into one of their threads and say ‘Hey, this piece is pretty cool… mind if I have ago at modeling it? we could make something beautiful together!’
And why not… you get reference pictures, friendship, teamwork and maybe even some textures too!! you may be great at 3d but you suck at textures… so… why not team up? take a browse through and see what you like…
Sounds like a good idea to me, just the 3d artist would need permission from the 2d artist for sure. None of just stealing 2d sketches and saying it was just the 3d guy’s work. That’s my say.
That is a nice viewpoint… I myself draw most everything I make (that is good)… I have classroom sketches, and they are just… a lot better than I thought… once I set it down, and come back to it after a while… it looks pretty impressive… and then easy to model! Sketching, to 3-D is a great Idea, I do it all the time…
and yes! interaction with the community!
(just look at all the MOVIES out… monsters inc. Ice age Shrek, they all are sketched first… and put into story boards)
People Post quite a bit in the Wip forum and well… is someone posted something 2d in there I would get shoot down the list in no time…
Basic there is too much traffic for 2d art to be notices in a 3d section so if would be more reasonable to have it own forum where it would be more likely viewed… Its not our fault one would be too lazy to nose around a bit in other forums
