Train / Railway Interior

I had been wanting to work on a short animation (toon render style) involving railroad/railway for a long time.

So, I start to model one of the train a week ago. Not complete yet, but here is the result

wire view

Blender Internal + Freestyle + Indirect Lighting + AO Multiply

Blender Internal + Freestyle

Blender Internal + Freestyle + Indirect Lighting

Blender Internal + Freestyle + AO Multiply

More different render, I feel that without AO and indirect lighting, give the most 2D look.

I agree on the without AO and Indirect lighting, it looks more toonish, but the ceiling is too dark. What is the story for the animation?
Are there going to be people? If so, comparing the environment shader to the characters’ shaders would make sense I think. Great modeling work so far!

Thanks, there will be people in the animation.
But I still havent model them yet. I guess I need to wait until when I have the human models ready, then only I can decide the render settings .

Hi, this is looking really great. I hope you are open to suggestions or references, I have a great link that could be useful. It’s a you tube video on the making of “Blood the Last Vampire”, an anime. They did most of their 3d work if I remember correctly using Lightwave and the beginning of the video has shading and wireframe examples from the movie. It could prove useful for a 2d reference since you mentioned you are working on a 2d look. Here is the link -

thanks for the share. It will be very useful for me.

some updates after a long time.
