Lower polycount/ better PC :S
I finally got a render done.
*Finally got around to adding the doors.
*Added a roof to the roundabout.
*Still have to add more details and finish the roundabout.
*Will be adding more and different engines and cars.

I added a new engine and new grain cars. I will be posting a rendering of the scene with the new cars in it tomorrow.

Really like the way your project is turning out.
I finished the full render. The colors are off because I am using mutable cameras and stitching the renders together. I changed the lighting for the newly added parts. That is why the colors are off.

This is so cool!!!
wow! your modelling is very neat
This is really shaping up well! About the RAM issue, Dilopho DD is right. Try to lower the poly count for the scene. What is the poly count? Is there a way to simplify the rails and other objects on which loads of detail are not necessary?
At any rate, this still looks awesome. Can’t wait to see the final product! =D
@ JDaniels At the moment the entire scene has 1382296 faces. But most of that is from the trains and cars. Without them I can render fine with 120521 faces. So unless I make a new train I will not be rendering the scene with the trains in it.
Or you could render the scene, render the trains & cars, and combine in the compositor…:eyebrowlift:
It’s really looking great! And with that much work, I would definitely want a final render of everything in place.
Randy
That sounds like a great Idea. How do you do it?

really nice, will you be using this for an animation?
Compositing the vehicles into the image requires you to put them in a separate layer, but include any parts of the original scene that will throw shadows on them, or which they throw shadows on, and then create two renderlayers, one containing each part of the scene. You then use the nodes window to create two inputs, one set to each of the two renderlayers, and combine the results with a z-combine. Put the output of that into an output node, and set the render buttons to ‘composite’.
Oiyou, I didn’t mean that you can’t put a roof above a window, but that the ends of the arch of the roof can’t ba above a window. All the weight of the roof comes down at the ends, and the window would collapse. If the roof is really a steel structure, and the walls are for show, say they are glass, then you can, but with a brick built building, you have a pier under each end of the arch, and columns inside the building.
Looking good, but I still feel that the buildings are small in comparison with real ones. the roundhouse looks too shallow to comfortably fit a loco on each track, and given the width of the goods shed, it seems very short.
Matt
@ Clecle: I don’t know if I will be doing animation yet. I’m going to wait until I have finished the modeling.
@ Travellingmatt: Thanks for the input about the buildings.I agree with you that the roundabout is to shallow and I am going to fix it in the next couple of days. As for the goods shed it is actually supposed to be a engine maintenance and repair building I havent made a goods shed yet.
Here is what I have of the cab for the container truck so far. It’s not much.

Love the train and station, are you planning on animating this?
Edit: Nvm just found the answer
