I have a blender version 2.42a and 2.31 for Mac OS X intel and a blender each of the same version for Windows XP. The Windows versions work perfectly, and the Mac versions do too, except for one thing. When I box select (bkey), the lines of the box select do not display, nor do the lines of circle select (bkey-bkey). I’ve tried to change the background colour, but that doesn’t work. Can anyone tell me what my problem is? I will be more than happy to supply information on my computer’s hardware, OS version, etc.
Another thing; if you save a project in blender on a Mac OS version of say blender 2.41, can you open that file on a Windows version of blender 2.41? Or would it end up being glitchy, like opening a project made with 2.31 on 2.41?
file formats within the same version should be compatible across platforms, since it is the same code opening both. Having said that, they should also be backward compatible and not glitchy. And Ton said once that they should be forward compatible as well; if there are objects or constructs in a file that is not understood by the version, it is ignored. With all of that being said, there have been so many changes between 2.3x and 2.4x, I personally think it would be a miracle.

That’s cool, and good to know, as my Mac version of blender is currently glitchy, so I use my Windows version, but I perfer iVideo over Widows movie maker.
On that topic though, does anybody know what’s wrong with my Mac blender version (see first post)? Has anybody else had this problem?
theeth i used this technique to heal corrupted blender files before and it worked, so i thought that if it worked for me could work for others too, if its useless its news to me thanks for your input.
It’s a glitch in either the Blender version or the particular Intel system. I don’t know which because the powerpc version of Blender doesn’t seem to work on the Intels and it probably should under Rosetta. However, Photoshop CS3 has cursor problems too and you can’t see the brush shapes but it works fine in Rosetta.
What guidelines do you have to follow to achieve that? I’m really impressed by Blender’s ability to work through so many upgrades.
So it can’t be fixed (unless the blender guys make version 2.43 compatiable with Mac OS X Intel)? Well that sucks. Oh well. I was only wondering, cause I wanted to listen to my iTunes library while working on Mac blender. I can always use my Windows version.
