# Transferring Vertex Colors (with DataTransfer modifier) doesnt work (stays white)

I am trying to transfer my painted vertex color data from _some mesh_ to another. in this example, from a cube to a sphere:

The cube I painted fully green `(0.0, 1.0, 0.0)` and the sphere I didn’t touch.

As shown in the image however, the sphere remains completely white, despite the active DataTransfer modifier.

Transferring the Normals works great, but the vertex colors don’t seem to work.

Help on this would be greatly appreciated! \<3

You have to transfer the data to a vertex color layer on the sphere with the same name as the vertex color layer as the cube- make sure that’s the case

ooooh - you’re right - I totally forgot to even… add… a vertex color attribute to the target object… Thank you very much though!
