Is there a site, URL that explains and shows examples of transition effects that one can use in Blenders video editor?

In respect to VSE effects theres a big difference between 2.49 and 2.57. There hasn’t been a rebuild of some of that functionality yet. But you can at least do basic wipes (circle/linear left/right top/bottom or open/close) and dissolves. Much of the wiki still refers to 2.49.
I would add some effects stuff at the blenderVSE blog (in sig) but it is changing so much that it will date very quickly.
