transparency not the same for all objects in 3D view, despite same material

Hi,

I’m experiencing a strange bug: I have a set of blocks which all use the same transparent material, but it doesn’t show the same transparency in the 3D view.

Is that a feature or a bug? If it is a feature, is there a way to disable it?

The rendering appears to be OK.

Interestingly, no matter how many transparent blocks I have, it’s always only one which is a bit darker.

I’m attaching some example .blend files.

The bug/feature seems to exist in v2.49 and 2.56.
