Is it possible to render images in blender that have a transparent background? Say I wan’t an image for a homepage that’s transparent.

In the render options, press either “PREMUL” or “KEY” instead of “SKY” and then select either TGA or PNG for the image format and also press the “RGBA” button on.

Render and save your image. If you have the above done correctly, the BG in the render window should be black. NDon’t worry, there will be no BG when you open the image in GIMP or PS.

Does this work with yafray?
