transparency

im a noob, and was just wondering how - if it’s possible - to make an object translucent while i’m working with it.

Well i’m not sure what you mean here. But to go into wireframe mode press ‘Z’.

sorry, more specifically, i’m trying to see through the plane to my blueprint. the thing is i have to be in shaded mode to see the blueprint. as seen in a 350Z tutorial.

If I understand right just go into wiremode you will be able see your blueprint

1 select raytrans in materials

2 change the alpha parameter in materials
its under rgb for color

3 change the ior :index of refraction -------(1.3 for water?)

it looks great in the preview, but doesn’t show up on the actual thing. it says it’s linked to plane 003. doesn’t show up in a render either. blender is a fairly intuitive program for construction, but the materials and shading part is a little tricky to get the hang of.
