TraShadow - When Not to use?

Hello everyone,

Could someone provide an example of why you wouldn’t use TraShadow? Considering you allready went thru the process of creating an image file with alpha.

Thanks for your time!!

Just a stab in the dark, but render times might be slightly faster if there are no transparent objects around a non trashadow set object (like a ceiling or roof texture. TraShadow should be set (unless other effects are desired) for all objects with any amount of transparency in them, or if they are to receive shadows from other semi-transparent objects.

Is it really faster, sounds like it just takes alpha into account when calculating ray shadows.

I had not considered the speed factor. I guess if you are test rendering for lighting checks or whatever, it might be worth it to shut it off. Maybe thats why its off by default
