"Tree of Life" - Blender World Cup 2007

Finally, after intense work throughout the month (working nearly every single day) I can call this done. Phew!

After searching for what seems to have been forever, our heroes finally find the Tree of Life. The Tree shines
golden and green in the setting sun, contrasting its unpleasant surroundings of sharp metal and rusted bolts,
forming a corrupted version of what was once nature.

The piece is very much open to personal interpretation. I’ve left a few clues backing up the way I interpret it,
but who says my way is the right way? I’m sure much much more than I’ve thought of can be interpreted from
it. So I’ll leave the deeper symbolic aspects of the piece up to the spectator to figure out, rather than thoroughly
describing everything.

I hope you like the result! As always, there is things that could be better, but you’ve got to finish sometime. Big
thanks to everyone who supported me during the process. It would never have been half as good, if I wouldn’t
have had your comments and critique to push me farther!

Best of luck to everyone in the BWC! It’s good to see so many great entries. I still have to make my mind up on
which one of you guys I’m going to vote on. There are so many good ones!

very impressive!

Turned out really nice, man, I like the lighting. Good luck in the competition, though it looks as if you won’t need it…

Your hard work really paid off. I am glad you settled on the lighting with the setting sun.
It perfectly carries the feeling of hope as you mentioned in your wip.

All the best and good luck for the competition.

The m.h.p.e.
Could y render one render from direction of where sun is towards the people and tree, its a bit dark.

I smell gallery…:eyebrowlift:
Can you tell us how you set up the lighting? That would be very interesting.

I Know he said " let there be light ", and then there was light and then he went to get little rest. I smell overheated processor. I dont understand the image, reminds me though that few days ago i found stones that had so much metal in them that them were rusty. The guy in the middle has a key that has sort of a cross, somebody could think of what it means what did i just type?, heh

Awesome finished piece bud.

Good job on getting rid of the repetitiveness of the trees. Hardly noticeable at all now. Lighting is spot on for this image. Creates a great feeling of awe.

The textures on the robot are a bit lacking, but in the time that you did this, I can understand why.

Great work ~~!
But if you make the distance some what visible in between the couple and the rise of light
you will take the BWC ,i could bet on that!

Very nice picture. Colours and lighting are brilliant. Composition is quite interesting.

Regarding interpretation - it reminds me the film: Fountain (Good guess?

Nice scene

the only negatives for me are that its a bit dark and the characters are a bit too generic

real nice though

Definately a great piece of art. I like the composition and the huge improvement you made on lighting since the last image I saw in the WIP thread. It really makes the image work well. All in all a job well done.

great! its so amazing. the light is pertect. good luck

Yeeeeessssssss!
You are a genius!
:D:D:D
The WIP promised an awesome finished project, and here it is! Except, it’s more awesome than awesome!
:D:D:D

[It’s possible that I like this render a little too much…but why shouldn’t it??]

Too bad you can only go up to 5 stars.

Very nice, I love the palette of colors you’ve used here - they make this piece really, really pleasant to look at. The Robot is okay in there, I understand that it adds to the theme of the image, still, I think it is rather unessecary.

Nevertheless, wonderful and inspiring work, I dare to say “as usual”. Good luck with the entry

I knew you were going to come up with something really good, in that way you helped push me to do more and better. I suspect that this is going to find it’s way all over the net. and become many people’s desktop wallpapers.

Great job.

Absolutely Fantastic.

Only critique: THe halo lights shining around the tree have a couple of lines that look too harsh, but its not incredibly noticeable.

Again:
great piece, you got 5*from me…
