Tree Solutions for Blender

Wasn’t entirely sure where to post this. I wrote an article today on Tree Solutions for Blender, reviewing many applications with renderings and such. I’m still adding to the article, and if anyone has one I missed, let me know and I’ll look into adding it if I can. Some of the ones not listed yet are ngPlant, TReal, and Maketree. If anyone can find me OSX binaries, or compile them yourself, please let me know.

Here’s the article:

Very nice article. Thanks.
I know the question of tree generators seems to come up quite often. You’ve made a nice one stop shop for finding out the best solution for people.

Nice work

Wow nice post  Thank you very much!

Thanks for your efforts. I wasn’t aware of Arbaro.

Great Article. Opens your eyes out.

Hmmm, wonder what the Peach tree system will look like by comparism to these?

Love the article. Thanks for posting.

I wasn’t aware Peach was writing a system for Tree generation. I’ll be keeping an eye out on it. Thanks for the tip

yeah I noticed them refering to it in the Conf vids this year, I think it was Brecht on development of Peach.

thanks BrianH! very informative…

I had a go at trees on my last project. It took a lot of time. I wish I had seen this first because the palm’s on Arbro look really good, much better and faster than modelling by hand.

Thanks for the article it will help a lot with my next project.

I would add that Gen3 developer is working on a plant modeling script as well.

Great stuff!

One of my favorite past times it grabbing a generated tree, and trying to box model one myself.

Most of the time I box model it out in blender, sometimes I use Zbrush and the Zspheres.
