Looks pretty good I thought,…maybe work on merging it with the ground a bit better,…add some smaller branches,…perhaps some with a drooping posture. A touch of lichen.
It’s gives mee horrible feeling, darkness, evil and such things , just add some details to make it more scary, like spiderwebs on the branches, and some bones and dead people on the ground, and a evil sky with flames and such stuff.

Actually, antihc3 helped me out with some of the render settings.
I havent really thought of adding more to the scene, (seeing that the tree is not even textured yet), but I’ll try it.
…And what is lichen?

Lichen?? Don’t know, but I think he means, that you have to make the branches more wilder or something like that, I don’t know what lichen means. Oowh crap, I had to learn my english better. :-?
Lichen is a primitive plant that resembles moss. Wenn Englisch geht nicht, kann ich auch Deutsch reden. Besser? %|

the knot looks out of place, it doesnt watch the rest of the tree, perhaps move it up a bit and angle it in the same direction as the other branches?

If you want quality pics, without loosing any data to the compression stuff, use Portable Network Graphics format (PNG).
(Targa isn’t meant to be used on the web and only has RLE compression, which is good for images with large one-colored areas, but not for renders or photo’s)
