Tree

Created for a Father’s Day card for my dad, this tree was made without any scripts except Fiber for the grass (as I cannot make static particle grass to save my life).

The textures are all procedural, except for the alpha maps on the leaves. I am very pleased with the way the bark texture came out.

Colour curves modified from original (see bottom image):

Colour curves modified +sequencer glow effect:

Original image (no post-pro) (if you happen to be using Internet Explorer (shame on you!), then the alpha transparency of the .png file will not show):

It’s mainly for effect, not realism.

All constructive criticisms are appreciated, and if there is a lot of criticism then I will move this to the WIP forum. However, to me, it looks finished, and it is a little late to update it as a card.

I might add a background, if it looks too bad with a black background.

Post-pro done in the GIMP, glow effect from Blender sequencer.

Looks good in general. The second colour corrected version looks the best out of all of them.

I don’t like the branch that is bare and sticks out the top.

Aligorith

thats awsom, i love it, how did tou do the leaves?

Firstly, thanks for the replies!

The leaves are static particles, and on each particle is a duplicate of a plane with an alpha-mapped leaf on it. (The leaf was made quickly in Sodipodi (a vector program), it’s simply a leaf-ish shape with a gradient from browny green to green).

I agree about the bare branch, I’ll try to encourage some leaves to move up there.

That’s the leaf texture, if anyone wants it… (Rubbish warning)
