Trexilence's Sketchbook UPDATE: Sculpture sketches

Hey guys, haven’t posted for a while, so I thought I’d update what I’ve done lately. This is just a reasonably short sketch of a woman, as I hadn’t practiced with faces for a while. Enjoy:

WOW! Really great image!! :D… 5 stars

Nice work indeed. The nose, i tihnk is really flattening the face though, i think you could work it out a bit better…

Well done luke

Thanks for the replies guys, and thanks for the five stars, Lasphere
Traitor, I put an updated image above, I’m quite happy with the nose now… I completely redrew it, after one attempt at jsut trying to edit it around… thanks for the critique.
I’m thinking of making this thread my sketchbook thread… so I may have more pictures here soon.

Yep, the thread evolved. This is now gonna be where I dump all my pictures. I got a few for ya now. All just sketches, with a pencil and paper.

Awsome  !!!Those are some very great sketches!

The woman is also very beautiful. Now thats what I would like to learn.Drawing people myself, think of my own poses and all the things.

Very awsome!

Keep up the great work!

Nice work. Good eye for shape and form. I’d encourage you to pay more attention to your value range. For example, the girl is basically two values: light and dark. The medium values are mostly on the light side, not too much medium medium, if you know what I mean. And, except for the hair and eyes, the darks are mostly outline. The hand, on the other hand, has very few darks in it. It is mostly light and lighter. Try a few sketches using a stump to blend all the lines, to help you concentrate of the value of the patches rather than the outlines.

very impressive… just very very good… what would be interesting to know is how long it took you to draw them…

Hey guys, thanks for all the comments. Orinoco, thanks for the tip, Ill try and make sure I concentrate more of having full ranges in my drawings. And Power3D, all these pictures around 1-2 hours, depending on how I was feeling… the more complicated ones may have taken a bit longer. I’ll have more pictures soon.

lovely work you’ve got there. For how long have you’ve been drawing ?

Thanks for the reply, foCus. I’m 16 years old now and I’ve pretty much been drawing on and off since I was about 5, though I only really started getting into it about this year.

hey guys, it’s been a while but I’ve finally got an update worth putting in. This sketch was referenced from Michaelangelo’s ‘The Dying Slave’ sclupture, hope you like it.
